Pulmonary Embolism (PE)

Definition

Pulmonary embolism (PE) is a potentially life-threatening condition that occurs when a blood clot, usually originating from the deep veins of the legs or pelvis, travels to the lungs and blocks one or more pulmonary arteries. This can lead to reduced blood flow, decreased oxygen levels in the blood, and damage to the lung tissue.
