Definition

Mucormycosis is a rare and potentially life-threatening fungal infection caused by fungi in the order Mucorales. It primarily affects individuals with weakened immune systems and can manifest in various forms, including rhinocerebral, pulmonary, gastrointestinal, cutaneous, and disseminated mucormycosis. The infection can cause tissue damage and necrosis, leading to severe complications if not treated promptly.
