Facial nerve palsy, also known as seventh cranial nerve palsy, is a condition characterized by the sudden onset of weakness or paralysis of the facial muscles on one side of the face. It is caused by damage or inflammation of the facial nerve, which controls the muscles responsible for facial expressions, taste sensation, and some aspects of hearing.
