Eating disorders are a group of psychological disorders characterized by an abnormal relationship with food, leading to severe physical and psychological symptoms. Types of eating disorders include binge-eating disorder, anorexia, and bulimia. Common symptoms of eating disorders include extreme weight loss or gain, preoccupation with food and body image, changes in eating habits, feeling guilty or ashamed after eating, and avoidance of social situations involving food.
