Antinuclear Antibody (ANA) Test
Definition
The antinuclear antibody (ANA) test is a diagnostic procedure that measures the presence and levels of antinuclear antibodies in the blood. These antibodies are produced by the immune system and can attack the body's own cells, specifically targeting the nucleus of cells. The test is commonly used to help diagnose autoimmune disorders, such as lupus, Sjogren's syndrome, and rheumatoid arthritis.
