Dinesh Singh, MD
Biography
Dinesh Singh, MD, is a urologist who specializes in minimally invasive surgery for conditions such as kidney stones, prostate cancer, kidney cancer, and adrenal gland disease.
Dr. Singh graduated from medical school with honors (AOA) from Columbia University in 1997 and completed his residency in urology at Harvard Medical School. From there, he completed specialized training in minimally invasive surgery during a fellowship at The Cleveland Clinic.
Dr. Singh became interested in urology during his third year in medical school. He was drawn to the field because of the tangible solutions he could provide his patients: “There are very concrete ways where I can answer the question, ‘Did I do something to make someone’s life better today?’” he says.
Dr. Singh was also drawn to the patient-doctor relationship many urologists have. “Unlike a lot of surgical fields where you may operate on a patient and not see them again, in urology, we have a really significant longitudinal care component,” he says. “We’re usually the ones who are following up with them, not a medical oncologist or another doctor.” He’s been seeing some of his patients at Yale for over 16 years.
In addition to seeing patients, Dr. Singh conducts research on monitoring kidney cancer, reducing radiation exposure for patients with kidney stones, and finding predictors for patients who have kidney stones versus another diagnosis.
He is an assistant professor of urology and director of minimally invasive surgery at the Yale School of Medicine.
