Biography

Annalies Denoble, MD, is an obstetrician-gynecologist who specializes in maternal-fetal medicine, or high-risk pregnancies.

“I have been passionate about women’s health for a long time. I see women as the center of health for the whole family,” she says. “The interplay of physiology of the mom and the fetus during pregnancy is fascinating—you always have to think about two patients and not just one.”

Dr. Denoble says she was drawn to maternal-fetal medicine for its diversity of tasks. “We get to read ultrasounds for routine prenatal care. We deliver babies. We handle complex cases. You never have two days that are the same,” she says. “Plus, there is so much we can do to help patients. Many of the women we take care of have had high-risk pregnancies in the past and they are anxious. Being able to walk with them throughout their pregnancy is incredibly rewarding.”

Part of her approach to patient care is giving women the opportunity to voice their concerns, Dr. Denoble says. “Sometimes just being able to voice what they are most worried about helps them feel more confident moving forward. I also make sure they know that I am there with them throughout their pregnancy, regardless of what decisions they make,” she adds.

Dr. Denoble’s clinical and research interests include maternal heart disease in pregnancy. As the leading cause of maternal mortality in the United States, addressing gaps in our understanding of heart disease in pregnancy is critical to improving maternal health.
