Andrea Halim, MD, BA
Biography
Andrea Halim, MD, is an orthopaedic surgeon who treats both adults and children for conditions that affect the hand, wrist and forearm.
One of Dr. Halim’s specialties is a carpal tunnel syndrome surgery that is not available everywhere. She uses a “minimally invasive, mini-open” approach that minimizes scarring and postoperative pain. Dr. Halim also practices general orthopedics, works with orthopaedic trauma and pediatric patients, and manages other conditions that range from tendon injuries to trigger finger disorders. “I enjoy treating traumatic conditions, arthritic conditions and nerve compression, because I love seeing patients getting back to their work and their hobbies by helping them maximize function,” Dr. Halim says.
She performs many minor procedures using local anesthesia, while the patient is wide awake. This helps people avoid the risks of anesthesia and have a quicker recovery.
Dr. Halim is an assistant professor in the Department of Orthopaedics & Rehabilitation at Yale School of Medicine.
