ALS Program

Amyotrophic lateral sclerosis (ALS), also known as Lou Gehrig’s disease, is a neurodegenerative disorder involving the neurons of the motor system in the brain and spinal cord. We comprehensively evaluate and treat patients with ALS, primary lateral sclerosis (PLS), progressive muscular atrophy (PMA), progressive bulbar palsy (PBP), multifocal motor neuropathy (MMN), and other motor neuron disorders, such as polio and post-polio syndrome.

As it can be difficult for our patients to travel, we are able to coordinate different clinical services to help minimize the number of office visits. Our team of specialists includes a mobility expert, an orthotics/prosthetics expert, and a representative from the Muscular Dystrophy Association (MDA). Pulmonary function tests (PFT) are also performed in the PFT lab during visits.
