Billing
Yale DNA Diagnostic lab accepts all commercial insurances. Tests will be on hold until it is confirmed that the patient has an active policy or prior authorization is obtained. Patients are responsible for any out-of-pocket amount not limited to co-pays, deductibles, or co-insurance. The test will be billed to the patient after the test results in the patient’s chart. If the patient owes an out-of-pocket payment, they will receive an invoice from Yale Medicine billing.
Note: The DNA lab can only accept Connecticut state Medicaid and Medicare. For Medicare patients, the test must meet criteria guidelines for testing for the test to be billed to insurance.
Patient benefits are verified before starting the test.
A cost estimate for each test can be generated if requested by the ordering provider or patient. It is recommended that patients communicate directly with the Yale Medicine Pre-estimations department for the most accurate information on their expected out-of-pocket costs and benefits.
