- Study HIC#:2000027269
- Last Updated:06/02/2024
PACeS is a trial to study most effective treatment for patients who may experience atrial fibrillation after cardiac surgery, particularly coronary artery bypass grafting (CABG). Atrial fibrillation, or Afib (AF), is an irregular heart rhythm. In some cases, AF can cause blood clots. There are currently 2 classes of drugs for preventing blood clots in patients with AF. Antiplatelets, like aspirin, and anticoagulants, or blood thinners. This study aims to determine whether the addition of blood thinners to antiplatelets will improve treatment outcomes in patients who develop AF after CABG.
