An Intervention to Reduce Readmission Rates in Young Women with Acute Myocardial Infarction (AMI)

  • Study HIC#:2000026617
  • Last Updated:02/02/2024

We are recruiting young women (18-55 years) who experienced a recurrent heart attack to participate in an American Heart Association (AHA) funded research project. The goal of this project is to develop a behavioral intervention to reduce readmission rates and improve outcomes for young women following an acute myocardial infarction (heart attack).

Women can complete one or both activities:

  • One 30-minute interview
  • One focus group meeting

    Trial Purpose and Description

Specific Aim 1: To develop and validate a risk prediction model of 1-year post-AMI readmission among young women. Specific Aim 2: To identify key barriers/motivators related to the experiences of young women who are readmitted, informed by the predictors ascertained from the risk model. Specific Aim 3: To develop a sex and gender based tailored intervention to reduce each young woman s probability of readmission within 1-year of hospitalization for AMI. This research will involve an iterative process involving stakeholder reviews, education, training, evidence reviews, focus groups, and WOOPadaptation.
