Ventricular Septal Defect
Definition
Ventricular septal defect (VSD) is a congenital heart condition characterized by an abnormal opening or hole in the wall (septum) that separates the two lower chambers of the heart, known as ventricles. This defect allows oxygen-rich blood to mix with oxygen-poor blood, causing the heart to work harder to supply sufficient oxygen to the body and potentially leading to various complications.
