Tubo-Ovarian Abscess (TOA)
Definition
Tubo-ovarian abscess (TOA) is a complex and severe pelvic infection involving the fallopian tubes and ovaries. It typically occurs as a complication of pelvic inflammatory disease (PID) and can result from the spread of bacteria from the vagina or cervix. TOA can cause significant pain, fever, and other symptoms, and may lead to serious complications if left untreated.
