Transposition of the Great Arteries

Definition

Transposition of the great arteries (TGA) is a congenital heart defect characterized by the abnormal positioning of the two main arteries, the aorta and the pulmonary artery, which carry blood away from the heart. In TGA, these arteries are switched, resulting in oxygen-poor blood being circulated throughout the body, leading to severe health complications.
