Transcatheter Aortic Valve Replacement (TAVR)

Definition

Transcatheter aortic valve replacement (TAVR) is a minimally invasive surgical procedure used to treat aortic valve stenosis, a condition where the aortic valve narrows and restricts blood flow from the heart to the rest of the body. TAVR involves inserting a catheter through a small incision in the groin or chest and guiding it to the heart to replace the damaged valve with an artificial one.
