Secondary Hyperaldosteronism

Definition

Secondary hyperaldosteronism is a medical condition characterized by the excessive production of aldosterone, a hormone that regulates blood pressure and electrolyte balance, due to factors outside the adrenal glands. It is often caused by conditions such as renal artery stenosis, heart failure, or liver cirrhosis, leading to increased renin secretion and subsequent aldosterone overproduction.
