Pulmonary Radiofrequency Ablation (RFA)
Definition
Pulmonary radiofrequency ablation (RFA) is a minimally invasive procedure that utilizes radiofrequency energy to generate heat and destroy cancerous cells in lung tumors. It is typically performed using a thin needle electrode, which is guided into the tumor using imaging techniques such as CT scans or ultrasound. The heat generated by the radiofrequency energy causes the tumor cells to die, reducing the size of the tumor and alleviating symptoms.
