Posterior Tibial Tendon Dysfunction

Definition

Posterior tibial tendon dysfunction (PTTD) is a condition where the posterior tibial tendon, which runs along the inside of the ankle and foot, becomes inflamed or torn, leading to pain, swelling, and a progressive flattening of the arch of the foot. This can result in altered walking mechanics and potential disability if left untreated.
