Posterior Cruciate Ligament (PCL) Tear

Definition

A posterior cruciate ligament (PCL) tear is an injury to the ligament located in the knee joint, which connects the femur (thigh bone) to the tibia (shin bone). This ligament helps stabilize the knee and prevent excessive backward movement of the tibia. PCL tears can result from sports injuries, car accidents, or falls, and may cause pain, swelling, and instability in the knee.
