Peripheral Artery Disease (PAD)

Definition

Peripheral artery disease (PAD) is a circulatory condition characterized by the narrowing of peripheral arteries, primarily affecting the legs. This narrowing is typically caused by the buildup of fatty deposits (atherosclerosis) in the arterial walls, leading to reduced blood flow and oxygen supply to the limbs. PAD can also affect the arteries supplying blood to the head, arms, and stomach.
