Pelvic Fractures

Definition

Pelvic fractures are breaks or cracks in one or more of the bones that make up the pelvis, which is the ring of bones at the base of the spine that supports the weight of the upper body and protects the organs within the pelvic cavity. Pelvic fractures can result from high-energy impacts, such as car accidents or falls from significant heights, or from low-energy impacts in individuals with weakened bones.
