Myelodysplastic syndromes (MDS) are a group of diverse bone marrow disorders characterized by the inability of the bone marrow to produce sufficient healthy blood cells. This leads to an increased risk of infection, anemia, and bleeding, as well as a higher likelihood of developing acute myeloid leukemia.
