Kyphoplasty

Definition

Kyphoplasty is a minimally invasive surgical procedure used to treat vertebral compression fractures, typically caused by osteoporosis, spinal tumors, or trauma. The procedure involves the insertion of a balloon into the affected vertebra, followed by inflation to create a cavity. Bone cement is then injected into the cavity to stabilize the fracture and restore the vertebral height.
