Hereditary Breast and Ovarian Cancer Syndrome
Definition
Hereditary breast and ovarian cancer syndrome (HBOC) is a genetic condition characterized by an increased risk of developing breast and ovarian cancers due to inherited mutations in specific genes, most commonly BRCA1 and BRCA2. Individuals with HBOC have a higher likelihood of developing these cancers at a younger age and may also be at an increased risk for other types of cancer.
