Critical Limb Ischemia

Definition

Critical limb ischemia (CLI) is a severe condition characterized by a significant reduction in blood flow to the extremities, typically affecting the legs and feet. This reduction in blood flow results from narrowing or blockage of the arteries, leading to tissue damage, non-healing wounds, and severe pain at rest. If left untreated, CLI can progress to gangrene and may ultimately require amputation.
