Amblyopia, also known as lazy eye, is a vision development disorder in which one eye fails to achieve normal visual acuity, even with prescription lenses. The weaker eye tends to turn toward the nose. It typically occurs during early childhood and results from reduced or imbalanced visual stimulation to the brain, causing the brain to favor the stronger eye.
