Definition
Abducens nerve palsy, also known as sixth cranial nerve palsy, is a neurological condition characterized by the dysfunction of the sixth cranial nerve, which controls the lateral rectus muscle responsible for moving the eye outward. This dysfunction can result in difficulty moving the affected eye outward and may cause double vision, uncontrolled eye movements, and misalignment of the eyes.
